Písek – family holidays – the Písecké Mountains – the Otava river for paddlers, tourism, gothic stone bridge

 The Písecko area is called a gate to South Bohemia. It stretches there on the edge of Central and South Bohemia in the northwestern part of the Southbohemian region. This area is frequently searched by tourists and it offers cottages and chalets to rent with a lot of small residences in a wavy landscape with deep river valleys (Cottage for rent by the Orlík dam), a number of small forests and water reservoirs and clean environment.

The Písek area is an area of ponds, the Orlík dam on the Vltava river and the golden Otava river, a region of beautiful forested peaks with unspoilt nature and plains. You can visit the St. Vavřinec´s church in Putim and apart from the district town, you can also visit a frequently attended castle Orlík, its park, or the Zvíkov castle with the Markomanka tower. Furthermore, you can visit the Vráž spa and chateau, a small chateau Čimelice with a bridge, forest zoo, a plague pole and sculptures (the Čimelice baroque of the Hammer family sculpture handicraft), ruins of Kestřany, a gothic church Myšenec, a renaissance ruin Klokočín, the Drhovle chateau, a church and a small chateau in Čížová, churches in Slabčice and Heřmaň. There in the village of Albrechtive nad Vltavou you can find a Romanic church with paintings and a cemetary wall with paintings and cut arcades. There is a Forest educational path in the forests of Putim, the Písecké Mountains are a natural park, there is a view tower in Jarník.
