accommodation Greece - Rhodes

The Rhodes island is situated on the boundary of the Aegean and the Mediterrean Sea, and provides its visitors perfect conditions both for family stays in Rhodes and active holidays and windsurfing in Greece. This beautiful island hides many sights, the history of which goes up to the times of the ancient Greece, and plenty of beautiful beaches and rich recreational enjoyment. The western coast washed by the waters of the Aegean Sea is rather windy and hilly and demonstrates the wild beauty of the island. The eastern coast is peaceful and offers swimming in clear waters of the Mediterrean Sea. The Rhodes town dominates the nothern tip of the island.

The ancient Rhodes town is a pearl of the island with unique atmosphere. Here you will find formidable walls, narrow streets full of taverns, restaurants and shops, and finally a busy port, in the place of which the Colossus of Rhodes - one of the seven wonders of the ancient world - was located. The most nothern tip where the waters of the both seas come together is lined by nice beaches with good rear. At the port you will meet many offers and opportunities of boat trips both around the island and to neighbouring islands.

The eastern coast of the Rhodes island attracts especially with clean sandy beaches, romantic bays and holiday resorts. The most beautiful place on this part of the coast is undoubtedly the historical town Lindos with the ancient acropolis and a tangle of streets underneath. Sandy beaches with easy access to the water flanked by cliffs and peaceful bays offer nice swimming suitable for children as well. The most famous holiday resorts are the town Faliraki and the spa town Kalithea.

The western coast of the island is popular especially for fans of windsurfing and kiteboarding. Stable wind provides perfect conditions for these sports here, while on the coast you can find many windsurfing courses and rentals. The beaches are mostly pebble or sandy with pebbles. Worth mentioning is the ancient town Kamiros (called the Rhodian Pompeii) with extensive archeological excavations, and the impressive castle Monolithos which rises above the sea on a 240 m high rock.

TRANSPORT ON THE ISLAND: in every town there are car rentals (price from 30 EUR per day depending on the type of a car and number of days, we recommend to book in advance in high season) and motorbike rentals (from 12 EUR per day). In the whole island you can meet line buses with frequent schedules and clear signs, you can practically get anywhere by them. Taxi service is an appropriate alternative to line buses (with fully seated car the price is pretty similar to the price on a bus). The taxi station and bus stops are right at the exit from the airport building.

WHY RHODES? The guarantee of sunny and warm weather from spring until autumn, good infrastructure, very good information availability, comparable or cheaper prices in shops and restaurants, wide choice of holiday activities and services, perfect conditions for water sports and ESPECIALLY helpful and heart people who always help you and give advice.
